Where the Squirrel Scurries
Squirrels live where there is a lot of food. Most of the time, this is a place with many nut- and seed-producing plants, which squirrels love. Squirrels also like many places that have many grasses and plants, because the new plant shoots growing there are edible. Squirrels have to live in places that have trees and it is very important that they live by a tree. This is really important because squirrels build nests in the trees, specifically for taking care of cute little baby squirrels. It keeps the baby squirrels safe from danger when they left alone while the adult squirrels are searching for food and such. Red Squirrels usually live in many forests. Gray squirrels are the most common type of squirrel in North America and they are usually found near large cities and busy people. In the winter, when the time of nesting is completed, squirrels live in tree trunk holes to stay warm and snug. Some even find their way into a local home's attic. Can you imagine them going into your attic? Squirrels will do some crazy things to keep warm and safe. They are smart too though, because they know if there isn't a hole in a tree trunk around their habitat, it's the only way they are going to survive.
